THE LASUSU LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Lagos state university students union is the students representative body of over 61,000 students of the higher school of learning of Lagos, saddled with the responsibility of catering for the academic, social well-being, and seeking for emerging positive trends in the society which are imbibed into her members; hereby positioning them with necessary tools for the arduous challenges outside the walls of the varsity. In lure of this, she organizes annually various programmes which are targeted at the young at heart of our society, one of which is the LASUSU LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE.
The LASUSU leadership conference is  an initiative of the students of Lagos state university (LASU) and is domicile at the Lagos state University College Of Medicine, Ikeja; at its last two (2) editions it has attracted eminent personalities such as the immediate past executive governor of Lagos; Gov. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Globally renowned  Prof. Pat Utomi, eminent teachers and achievers in various fields such Engr. Kunle Ogunbayo, prof. John Obafunwa  (vice-chancellor LASU), Prof. G.O.G Awosanya (provost, college of Medicine) to mention a few.

The conference is aimed at fostering a drastic paradigm shift from that which our society currently presents to this generation of our young, by re-engineering the minds of our youths to seeing leadership as a service centred enterprise, develop a sense of deep patriotism that is most needed to drive the needed change in our nation and bring us to a greater realization; that to achieve any of this is possible via her (youth) abilities which are endless.

The visionaries of the conference:
Fabian C. Adili-George and Seriki M.I both Medical students from the Prestigious Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) while serving as executive Members of the Students Union representing the College of medicine in the 2012/2013 administrative tenure Identified the need of empower young minds of Lagos state university and beyond via an annual interaction with men and women of great strength and enviable character whose stories and charges would in turn inspire greatness hence creating a wellspring of leaders ready to take charge of the much needed change that our world and mostly Nigeria needs.
Fabian C. Adili-George (who is currently in his final year in dentistry and dental surgery) has in the past years applied himself towards actualizing the sustenance of this vision, while convening its second second (2nd ) edition and Chairing its third (3rd ) editions with the support of Seriki M.I (600l, medicine and Surgery) and a committee of committed Youth leaders domicile at the Lagos state University College of Medicine, Ikeja.

The vision of the conference:
To be a gathering which would cultivate genuine principles of Leadership into young minds hence empowering a new generation of leaders (armed with character, excellence, passion, integrity and purpose; with a charge to be change agents) and by extension create a forum where matters of national relevance with the youths at its core are discussed and presented to relevant authorities for immediate action.

I actually saw a banner and decided I had to be there even though I wasn’t a student of LASU, the organizers were highly coordinated, warm and welcoming, beautiful and serene environment; my experience in one word was wow!
